Nato a Praga, gioca a scacchi da quando aveva sei anni. Annovera tra i suoi insegnanti Maestri come Ludek Pachman e Vlastimil Jansa. Ottiene numerosi successi a livello giovanile ed a 14 anni è già Maestro Internazionale. Nel 2002, tre giorni prima del suo 17° compleanno conquista il titolo di Grande Maestro. L’anno successivo vince il suo primo torneo internazionale a Polanica Zdroj (Polonia). E’ campione della Repubblica Ceca nel 2004 e nel 2005. Sesto al Campionato Europeo individuale di Antalya nel 2004. Partecipa alle 37esime Olimpiadi di Torino piazzandosi con la squadra della Repubblica Ceca all’11° posto; buona la sua prestazione individuale in prima scacchiera (8,5/12). Nel 2007 si impone con 9.5 su 11 nell’open Ordix (gioco rapid), spuntandola per spareggio tecnico sul georgiano Mikhail Mchedlishvili e sull'indiano Krishnan Sasikiran. In un recente match disputato a Praga ha battuto il GM inglese Nigel Short 7-3.

Born in Prague, he plays chess since the age of 6. Among his chess teachers there are Masters like Ludek Pachman and Vlastimil Jansa. He won many youth tournaments, and at the age of 14 he was already an International Master. In 2002, three days before his 17th birthday, he conquered the Grand Master title. In the following year Navara won his first international tournament in Polanica Zdroj (Poland). In 2004 and 2005 Navara won the Czech Republic national title. He scored a sixth place at the European Individual Chess Championship in Antalya (2004). In the 37th Olympiad in Turin he played in the first board of the Czech Republic national team, with the team closing in 11th place with a very good individual performance (8,5/12). In 2007 he won the Ordix Open with 9.5/11 (rapid play), getting the best by tie-break of the Georgian Mikhail Mchedlishvili and the Indian Krishnan Sasikiran. In a recent match in Prague he defeated the English GM Nigel Short 7-3.
